What is Inter Faith Dialogue?

We use the term 'inter faith' or 'multifaith' (rather than 'interfaith' or 'inter-faith') so signify that we are talking about dialogue between different faiths, each with their own identity. There is no suggestion that all faiths are the same or that we can create some sort of lowest common denominator from all the various faith traditions. Churches Together in Britain and Ireland has endorsed four principles of inter faith dialogue:

  • Dialogue begins when people meet each other
  • Dialogue depends upon mutual understanding and mutual trust
  • Dialogue makes it possible to share in service to the community
  • Dialogue becomes the medium of authentic witness

In addition, Faith in Worthing adheres to the principles set out by the Inter Faith Network for the UK
